Really I Shouldn’t….

Do you ever get those really random urges. (No not those kind of urges). You know the ones where you are standing in a queue somewhere and you get that sneaky voice in your head that says ‘Go on pinch the cute bum in front of you’. Those thoughts that are unbidden and usually inappropriate. I often wonder where they come from. Is it my inner child? My saucy secret self? My rebel? My naughty Nat. Some aspect of me that hides away until I am unguarded and then pops our some like demented jack in a box to scare the daylights out of me and if I was to follow through with the suggestion, the rest of the population too. Go on, you know you have had them too. Those thoughts or feelings that if you actually enacted them you might get locked up in jail or in the loony bin. Well because I can’t or won’t actually act them out this is about as close as I am going to get to the thrill of seeing them fulfilled. So here are my top 10 random urges that if I had the guts or lack of inhibition I would do…..

  1. Do a handstand or cartwheel in the middle of the road, the Plaza, a boring meeting or restaurant.
  2. Pinch the bum of the cute guy in front of me.
  3. Dance in a fountain in my bikinis in the middle of City Square.
  4. Sing at the top of my lungs in the supermarket to the song over the loud speaker.
  5. Run around and pull up all the shorts to a decent level.
  6. Hug strangers who look sad.
  7. Sky dive naked.
  8. Have a picnic on the median strip.
  9. Wear pajamas and take pillows and blankets to the movies.
  10. Set up a double bed, complete with mozzie net etc on the beach to watch the sun set and the moon rise.

I tell you my head is full of them.  So if you see me standing somewhere with this mischievous smile on my face and a far away look, don’t disturb, I am quietly letting the scenarios unfold in mind.

  • LOL Natalie, I know exactly what you mean. Just yesterday I was in the queue at the local servo, with about 4 or 5 big, burly truck drivers in the line in front of me and noticed we were facing a magazine that has attached to it a free dvd called ‘fat, sick and nearly dead’. If I’d acted on the teeny little voice inside me I would have picked them up and handed one to each of those men and told them to buy it….I’m afraid to think how they might have reacted. Great list and you know what…when you’re ready to have a picnic on the median strip call me Anne x

  • Haha… are so cute Natalie! Here’s some that come to mind for me:

    1. Rollerskate EVERYWHERE! (Like I did when I was 12)
    2. Cuddle kids in the plaza who are crying.
    3. Cuddle the mums of kids in the plaza who are crying
    4. Jump on a plane to Bali at a moments notice – by myself
    5. Drag everyone at the lights! (I’m a hoon at heart)
    6. Tell guys with low jeans that their butt is showing
    7. Tell girls with micro skirts their butt is showing
    8. Tell girls who look insecure – that they are lovable, lovely and loved!
    9. Make my own latte when I’m tired of waiting in the cafe queue!
    10. Tell people I love that I love them. xx

Great list Krishna. I love that many of the are about ‘lifting’ people up (hee hee).

  • Love all these great ideas- I actually ahev to stop my self from saying exactly what is on my mind (not swearing, but you know what I mean), and rephrase it into something more socially acceptable and politically correct.
Laughed out loud at all the above suggestions!!!! Love the blog!!

Natalie, From a Pixie to a Rat bag I can so relate to this post! Oh the things that occur in my head at times are crazy. I have to work consciously not to act on them. I say I think in cartoon which is why you will often finding me giggling to myself at not always the appropriate times lol. Love it xx

Yes Kama, I also have the smirking that goes on when I am entertaining myself in my head. How much fun would it be though if we actually did those things.

  • Madonna says:

    Hi Natalie,

I feel rather boring after reading yours and Krishna’s lists. I’m afraid I don’t have urges like this. But good on you.

It is refreshing to meet spontaneous people.

Hi Madonna, I am not sure about boring. You just may think or process differently. Do you have “I wonder…” thoughts? They are just as good. 🙂
